when you take away all the titles, the jewels, the numbers, the relationships, do you like yourself? do you truly love yourself? these are the questions this "take away my crown" asks. questions i had to ponder myself, after i let materialism and self-centeredness engulf my identity. this song was inspired by my mother who spoke these words to me on the floor of our living room, and my close friend after she brought these traits to light. in this song i have explored new techniques of the art of recording and mixing sound, and i believe you can hear the growth i have gone through since my first release almost two years ago. this song is the most proud i have been of any music i have released so far, and it has been so hard to wait before i can release it into the time and space.  i hope through these words you find that you truly love yourself, without all the additives.

i am so happy to say that on july 22nd, 2021, my fifteenth birthday, i will be releasing an EP called "fourteen". every single song in this EP was written, recorded, and produced by me from july 2020 to july 2021, the year that i was fourteen years old (hence the name of course.) this EP includes five songs, two of which you have already heard, all of which i love very much. i want to thank my dad for being an enabler throughout my entire life, but especially this last year; my mom for inspiring me to be a writer and musician; sammy wendland for creating the album cover and tracklist art, and for always supporting me; as well as my best friend gianna for always being there for me and being such a joy in my life. finally, thank you to everyone who has supported me since december, when i released my first song. you all have created such a safe space for me to share my music with you, all while growing in my abilities as a songwriter, musician, and producer. hopefully we can all keep growing together, just don't lie to me 💜
